Constitutional Limits on Government Have Been Subverted; We Are Losing Our Republic!
"A democracy is two wolves and a small lamb voting on what to have for dinner. Freedom under a constitutional republic is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." - Benjamin Franklin (1706 - 1790)
"When there is an income tax, the just man will pay more and the unjust less on the same amount of income." - Plato (427 BC - 347 BC), The Republic
"When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic. Sell not liberty to purchase power." - Benjamin Franklin (1706 - 1790)
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." - Edmund Burke (1729 - 1797)
As government takes unto itself more and more powers never authorized under the U.S. Constitution (or the Constitution of the State of West Virginia), we are losing our freedoms. Government, at all levels, has only been able to subvert the limitations because our elected have failed to carry out their Constitutional oaths to protect and defend us from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Edmund Burke has observed that it is we, the People, who shall be responsible for the loss of our Republic, should we fail to act. Shall we let evil prevail? "I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue." - Barry Goldwater (1909 - 1998), acceptance speech as Republican candidate for President, 1963
